Option #2 - Gospel Lived

5 – GOSPEL LIVED
If Christians were REALLY going to live out the gospel, what would they do? Christians are called to love others as Christ has loved them. What would/could this idea mean in practical ways. For instance, David as King actually invites Mephibosheth into his home and treats Him as a royal son.

6- GOSPEL LIVED
A. How have you seen the gospel lived out this year (toward you or others)?
B. What are ways that believers (you specifically or just His people in general) should regularly be giving his grace to others in how they live? What should prompt us to truly live differently? Do we truly live differently, or are we pretty much just like the rest of the world? Explain, using real examples.
C. Consider this famous St. Francis of Assissi quote: “Share the gospel always, and if necessary, use words.” What does this mean? Is it true? False? You can just respond to the quote (explain how/why this quote is great, horrible, inspiring,         confusing, incomplete, etc)?

If christians were going to live out the gospel they would tell everybody God's word and not be afraid to be judged by others.
Treat others how you want to be treated. That means that if we want others to be nice to us we should be nice to them and if we are mean to others we shouldn't expect kindness in return. In other words relationships are a two way street.

  2. 5- As christians we should go out and tell others about the bible. We need to share the gospel with others and while we do it we need to not be afraid of being laughed. Loving God so much that we don’t care if others think we are silly for telling others about The Lord. Treat others as you would want to be treated means. If you don’t want to be laughed at, then don’t laugh at others. If you wouldn’t want it said about you, dont say it abou others.

a.) people have helped me with homework when i'm confused
b.) should be kind and not be sarcastic, we should live differently because jesus loved us so we should love others, we are usually like the rest of the world because we are all equal unless we try and save others and show them christ.
c.) We should show that we are different then unbelievers because christ loved us (actions are louder then words) and if they dont see how christians live we should tell them about jesus, this quote is true and great because it tells us how god wants us to live.

  4. 5.) If we were to really live out the gospel like Christians should, it would be a lot different that we live throughout our daily lives now. For instance, when we are walking down the streets of downtown St. Louis and saw all the homeless people, we would give an ample amount of money for them to buy a meal with, instead of giving a few coins to one or two and ignoring the rest of them, thinking only of ourselves. Another thing that we might do if we were to live out the gospel is not be afraid to tell a Muslim, Buddhist, Jew, etc. that they are wrong! They might get offended, but we really do need to speak up to non-believers.

  5. Question #5
If Christians were to really live out the Gospel they would share it and talk about when they get the chance. They should feel no shame in sharing the gospel or living the Gospel in actions. I think that a lot of times we are afraid that we will be like shunned or separated because of our religious beliefs. Also I think that we can talk about the Gospel with other Christians. It doesn’t have to just be with non-Christians, it can be with anybody. Share scripture with anyone who is feeling bad or depressed. In Matthew 25, Jesus talks about how we should give to the least of them. Such as the hungry, thirsty, lonely, and for the sick. He says that doing it to the least of these is the same as doing it to Him.

    Question #6
    A) One recent and large way I saw the Gospel lived out this year was ITSOG. Our community came together and gathered over 7000 items for less fortunate families who don’t have as much as we do. Also in History we had a civic project where you could complete 1-2 hours of community service.
    B) One way could be to check your church’s bulletin to see where they need help, or what organizations you can help. Another really simple way is to just visit you grandma or your grandpa, you don’t want anyone to be alone. We should naturally want to help and to give to others in order to become more like Jesus. We shouldn’t want to do this because we think that we will get into heaven, there is only one way to heaven anyway. I think that it really depends where you are in your faith. If you don’t really believe in God and just say you're a Christian, you probably won’t try to live differently. However, if you are truly a believer, most likely, you are more likely to push yourself.
    C) I think that this quote means that to share the Gospel, you don’t always have to use words. You can share the Gospel by acting out, and trying to help others. This quote is saying that we should try to use actions and then is necessary use words to back it up. I think that it is true. In Matthew 25 Jesus talks about taking action in the Gospel, not just saying, actually showing it too.

  6. Question #5:
It is in my opinion that for a Christian to live out the gospel would be for them to spread the word about Christ to non-believers. What the phrase “Love others as Christ has loved them” means is that we should care about someone so much to the point that we are willing to be humble towards them and change their life. What that phrase could also mean would be if someone was poor, we would bless them with money. If someone was naked, we would clothe them. If someone was hungry, we would feed them. If someone was sick, we would rehabilitate their health. If someone was in jail, we would visit them. There are many meanings as to how a Christian would show to others love as Christ has loved them, but the ones above stuck out to me the most.

  7. 5) I think that one of the easiest ways to share the Gospels is through actions. Trying to tell someone verbally can be awkward or uncomfortable. So when you share your faith through actions we can let others see something special in us. They might think that that person has something that I don’t. Some ways that we can easily do this are simply holding open a door for someone or do a little favor. Doing little things like these a can show others that we are willing to put others before ourselves in our lives.

  8. If someone lived out the gospel, that would mean they were a perfect creation. That person would not be consumed with sin. They would pretty much live out their lives as Jesus did besides the crucifixion. Lying would not be a struggle, cheating would not be a temptation, lust would not be heard of, and divorce would not be the most common result of marriage.

  9. Question #5
I think one big way a Christian who really wanted to live out the gospel is through option #1 (aka a who am I plan). By making every person you encounter say "who am I?" you would be really living out the gospel. It could be anything from saying hello to that stranger on the sidewalk to sitting with that kid everyone hates.
Another way could be by just plain being happy. I try to do this everyday, because it helps show the joy you have in Christ. I know from experience people ask you why you are so happy and that's a great outlet to share the gospel with others you don't really even know.

  10. 5) If we really lived out the gospel we would help every person that needed it. The real true meaning of christmas everyday...kinda. One example might be the South Koreans coming to America this January. They will need a place to stay for the month. Or putting that extra change, that you get back when you hand the McDonald's employee, into the box for the little children who need help.

  11. Question #5:
I think that if we Christians would truly live out God’s word, we’d strive to follow God and talk about Him any chance we get. We’d follow His teachings, do mission work, help the less fortunate, and share the good news to anyone who would listen. We would go out of our way to prove to someone that God is real, that He loves them, and that He sent Jesus to die for them. We could do this in numerous ways, but I don’t know all of them. However, I know that mission work done for someone who actually needs it will impact their life forever. I’ve been on two mission trips in the past two summers. Both times, passerby would thank us for what we were doing and the people who we did it for were touched. The tiniest amount of help will mean a great deal to them. We could even act like Christians to our grade, we only need the courage to do so. I know that someone longs to share their faith story and their thoughts, but I think this grade has forced them to hide it. Though some may disagree, we are not nice people, and some students are afraid of being mocked over their faith. Anyway, there are a lot of students suffering in our grade, and it should seem like it is our duty to help them. My old Option #1plan was to put encouraging notes into someone’s locker, but it didn’t work out. Still, I think it is a good idea that would brighten someone’s day.

  12. 5. Jesus said in Matthew 22:39 that the second greatest commandment is to love your neighbor as yourself. I don't see people at school, at church, or anywhere following this commandment, which seems so easy to follow. The truth is, we consider ourselves higher than we do others. Instead of leaning on one another, it's the survival of the fittest. We need to learn to be compassionate.

  13. Question #5
If Christians did live out the Gospel, in my mind, there would be no poverty, no hunger, no thirst for clean water that may never be quenched, no emptiness in the hearts of those that are suffering, and love in the hearts of all. I think of Christians as the body of God doing his work through their actions. When I say no poverty, I speak of charity. No hunger, I think of food drives, donations, and just welcoming people into their home to eat. That deep thirst for clean water, building wells in Africa and the other many places on this Earth that have so much lost. The emptiness in hearts should be solved with how we should be sharing the Lord's Word with actual words and our actions, thus creation that love in everyone. That love just dying to be let out to help others, not just ourselves.

  14. 8. If Christians really were to live out the gospel they would acknowledge Christ in all they do. They would try not to sin and love others no matter what. For instance they would love there enemies and those who annoy them just as they love there friends. King David invites Mephibosheth into his home and treats him like royalty even when he was a crippled. We should be like King David and love everyone just as Christ loved us.

If a Christian were to actually live out the gospel I think that he would do what the great commission says, which is " Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” They would become fishers of men and spread the gospel with them wherever they go. This also doesn't mean that they need to go out to Africa and live in a village with the people there, because there is need and there are people without the gospel wherever you could go, even in your hometown.
